good and bad - pass

good and bad, what has involved - merit

good bad, what has involved and how does the future look like - distinction

In this assignment I will talk about What are the future opportunities and threats for the music industry and how music producers have been affected by: TV talent shows, social media and streaming.

The music industry is very different to how it was 100 years ago, now it is easier than ever to listen to your favourite song from your favourite artist or band. It has transformed dramatically, before, we had to own the music by buying records and cd’s, now we can just access those same songs through Spotify or apple music and we don’t have to pay for it.

topic 2

Is science correct about modern Pop music?

Pop music is what is trending right now, is the most mainstream, popular, commercially and successful genre of music and it has been at the top for many years, as it has evolved it is argued that it has become repetitive and generic, this may be because record labels now mainly want to maximise profit and they produce what people like the most, does this mean pop music is all the same?

According to researchers Glenn Schellenberg and Christian von Scheme examined popular pop songs, they looked at the tempo speed or whether the song was composed in a major key or minor key. they have found that tracks in general have gotten sadder and slower, this can be because of the public preference inclining more into minor key songs with a slow tempo. there's has also been another study done by the Spanish National Research Council, after examining 500,000 songs they concluded that pop  music have become less complex, using fewer chords changes and they are mastered to sound louder.

Why is this the case? one of the main reason for this is the rising popularity of singing contest shows, a great example can be X factor, this shows has been very popular for more than 10 years and it has allowed the discovery for big artists like Camila Cabello and One direction but due to the rise of popularity of this artists and the genres they play people have been been influence into perform and produce a genre that will ensure profit, in this case, slow ballads, this type of music is the main choice for people that want to go into X factor and perform, the result of this is that those people get famous they will perform the certain type of genre that made them famous, this influence other artists and labels into making similar material in order to compete in the industry and as a result everything can be very generic.

Another big issue for the music industry is the use of Artificial intelligence, A.I has been in the rise for the last 5 years and now it is more advance that ever, according to Billboard: '' Paul McCartney told BBC Radio 4 that he would use artificial intelligence to create the final Beatles song, including vocals from the late John Lennon, it prompted widespread confusion.'' Now artist are using it in order to change songs, make new vocals and make processes faster, for example, mixing and mastering.

A.I is also very accessible, anyone is able to use in order to make a song, it is as easy as typing a lyrics and the A.I engine does everything like the rhythm, melody and length of the song, this can impact the music industry as it means that some artists may choose to use A.I to create songs instead of having a full recording studio, this can affect sales and incomes produced as producers and artists won't need a record label in order to make good quality songs.

Does the number of Social media views equal to quality?
